🌱 Direct Environmental Action in Sanyang

On the second day, delegates transitioned from dialogue to direct field action, traveling to the coastal village of Sanyang to plant over 10,000 mangrove trees.

This initiative delivers vital ecological and socio-economic benefits:

  • Ecosystem Restoration: Protects vulnerable shorelines from coastal erosion and tidal flooding.
  • Biodiversity Enhancement: Provides essential nursery habitats for marine life and native flora.
  • Livelihood Support: Empowers local women engaged in oyster harvesting and fishing by bolstering natural coastal resources.
Supporting Local Communities
Restoration efforts directly benefit local coastal women and community livelihoods.

🤝 Diplomatic Empowerment & Negotiation Simulation

Another major highlight was a hands-on simulation of climate negotiations modeled after the UNFCCC COP process. This interactive session provided delegates with invaluable, practical insights into global climate governance and multilateral decision-making.

The simulation panel was chaired by Malang Sambou (Lead Negotiator of The Gambia at COP), with Haddijatou Ceesay (LCOY Coordinator) serving as deputy chair and Kemo Fatty (Green-Up Gambia) as secretary general.
